Rated 5 von 5 von aus Cut above the rest I decided to treat myself on my most recent visit to screwfix and I am so glad I did. My old retractable knife was about 10 years old and for as long as I can remember the blade would slip back Into the knife under pressure. My new purchase is more than up to the job and it made stripping SWA a breeze. The blade can be rotated for a new sharp side in second and you even get a couple of spares to get you started. Although it's a folding knife, it can be opened with one hand.

Rated 4 von 5 von aus Gumshoe The knife is a good size to hold in your pocket when folded and this makes it easy to carry around safely when working and it is of good build quality. My one bug bear is the initial set-up (getting the blade in and secure). I initially thought the knife was broken as the blade would not stay in place and the incremental thumb blade opener would not move the blade. I then googled the item and found out how to do it. Obvioulsy others had the same problem. (No instructions provided). When you know how its very easy but Stanley need to look at the initial setup instructions. Anway its a decent knife thats safe to carry around when folded.

Rated 1 von 5 von aus terrible knife terrible design. as others have said impossible to remove packaging without taking it to pieces. only holds 3 blades. my old one from travis i could get at least 8 in. blade removal is pathetic, lets see how long this little bit of plastic keeps working for. locking is a total joke. you have to put your finger inside the body to be able to fold it. another case of someone who never uses tools who designs them. sorry but from now i will only stay with fat max for my levels. keep your money, this is not worth it

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Stanley fatmax being a groundworker you need a knife more often than not and having this little beast in your pocket is a must! Sturdy, compact and well made also carries 3 spare blades in the handle for quick change there and then when you need it

Rated 5 von 5 von aus You can't ask for much more... If you look on the net you will see there is much confusion about how to get the product out of the packaging and how to insert blade. Firstly you will need scissors to remove the bulk of the hard clear plastic. From what I remember some of the packaging (card) is inside where the blade is - you have to press the red button at the front to release the card - then the packaging will seperate from the product. The red button at the back allows you to open the handle to acess the blade storage area. In order to bend the knife you have to press a sort of metal switch in the middle (makes sense when you see it but when it is straight it is fixed and in order to fold it you have to press the metal - which allows the knife to fold). The good -it folds -lightweight -blade storage (3 blades I think) -it comes with some blades -looks nice and standards out -you can adjust how much the blade comes out -there is a slot a quarter of the way down which allows you to use the blade to cut wire without opening the blade all the way out The bad -I understand it is a problem with all retractable blades - the blade itself does move a very small amount side to side as it is not screwed into place like some of the old school Stanley knives - it sits on a thing which allows it to retract - which is what causes the movement. Overall, if you wnat a foldable knife then this is probably as good as it gets. If you need the blade to be absolute rock solid and note move at all then you may need a fixed model - I suspect the vast majority of serious DIY'ers will be fine with this.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Super Stanley! This is an outstanding folding pocket knife with retractable blade and an on-board spare blade storage facility in the handle. I carry, and use, one daily at work and it never lets me down! Well made, great ergonomics, comfortable and straightforward to use.

Rated 5 von 5 von aus Great knife Brilliant bit of kit this, as you would expect from Stanleys FatMax range. Good locking mechanism, quick change blades - even comes with 3 blades to get you going. Feels comfortable in hand, and not to heavy in your pocket. The only thing i am not overly keen on is the belt clip - un-necessary in my opinion, but thats just me. Recommended

Rated 3 von 5 von aus Nice, but flawed design I bought this after reading reviews, and seeing that 'not likely to cut yourself', etc, etc. Well, I almost did myself an injury, just getting it out of the packaging - you need a knife like this, just to remove it first! Once you've sussed out the need to press the little red button to load blades, they go in nicely, but mine still seems to leave about 1-2mm of blade sticking out, even when it should be hidden - I know the knife folds, and this shouldn't be an issue, but for me, a knife of this quality should retract fully, for safety reasons, whether folding it or not. Otherwise, it's a great knife. Mine goes pretty much everywhere with me, and I use it virtually every day. So, great knife, nice quality, but design could be better. Then, it would be almost perfect.
